About Us
DE LA TIERRA was founded on three basic principles:
- We do not want to be working for people but with people. Too often, individuals and organisations are limited by the shackles of a conventional approach to work. The walls of a firm cannot contain the abyss inside of us. Only when every one of us is fostered to think and act independently can we aspire to greatness.
- Traditional business models encourage a lockdown of innovation pathways, preventing systems thinking approach to some of the complex challenges we face, particularly existential threats like climate change and biodiversity loss. We can operate at a higher, strategic level by giving agency to all actors. Solutions are more likely to be found when we embrace the plurality of knowledge. Too often, farming communities have been the recipient of market demands and have had their local knowledges ignored and appropriated by a standardised worldview that reinforces failing production systems.
- We love what we do. For some, work is a necessity. For us, it is a way of life.
